Hi!

My betta fish Marvin, almost a year old now, got knocked out of his tank last week by the cats  he was extremely lucky because he landed in a puddle of the water in a safe place; if he hadn't he wouldn't even be here right now. (This happened a couple of weeks ago)

what REALLY worries me though is that his throat seems to be obstructed or something, because he can't eat any of the food that I get him. He used to be just fine but now he is really freaking me out. He managed to get a tiny piece down a few days ago (I had to cut it in half) but he keeps doing this yawning thing with his mouth and he seems to be starting to worry himself (if fish worry)

If anyone has ANY suggestion at all please let me know as soon as possible. Other than this and a small scratch on his side (Also from the fall) he seems to be fine. :-(

Did you put any salt and stress coat in the tank when he got knocked out? Maybe something is stck in his throat? Is he breathing heavily or really slowly?

hmm I haven't tried salt or anything. I have to go get some dechlorinating stuff for his tank though, I'm out of it :( He is breathing a little bit differently, and he keeps his mouth a little bit open most of the time (whereas he used to keep it more closed)

How much salt should I put in if I use salt? I will get some bettafix remedy tomorrow when I restock on dechlor (I've never used bettafix remedy before, do you think it will help with his mouth? he is looking a bit worn down in general anyways, with the stress of the past couple of weeks, so I think I'll try it anyways)

thanks!

How big is the tank in gallons? Yes betta fix is wonderful for bettas when there is something wrong with them.
