What you do is, when you do a water change, keep a bucket full of the old tank water.

Take all the stuff out of your filter, and put it in the bucket. Give the whole thing a good stir about with your hand. Then pick up each piece of media, squeeze the water out and look at it. If it's still so slimy that it looks blocked, then dunk it back in the bucket and give it another squeeze.

Then put each piece back in the filter and then the filter back in the tank. Chuck the dirty water away (it's a great fertilizer for plants, btw, so put it on the garden if you can) and refill your tank, Switch the filter back on.

Hope that helps :)

Hi I just found 2 more fish dead out if the 3 I got yesterday , I left the blue light on last night till 2am then went to work , I got back this morning and 2 we dead and 1 if virtually swimming in circle cause his side fin isn't moving :(
I've only 3 guppy fry and 2 octocintus in the 10 gallon tank ! So there is plenty of room and hiding spots
