I am still fighting my corys to get a planted lawn in my tank and want to know which of the above two plants would give me the best chance. Its my understanding that parvula is easier to grow and grows much faster, but acicularis grows a much straighter leaf. So it sounds like a case of practicality vs aesthetics. Can anyone advise which will stand the best chance against my corys, tank is 50cm deep with 78w of T5's dosing 5ml of Excel daily, TPN+ every third day, with TPN on the days in between.

ime Parvula is the easiest and quickest to get going. It also gets bigger so you can work with it. It spreads quicker when trimmed as well.

I have both in the same tank growing currently, there is no difference between growth/spead rate, or one hasn't be hard/easyier than the other. the heights are the same acularis is only straighter.

heres day 1 (planting)

imo the main thing is substrate and ferts, you can see how quick its grown and theres no co2 injection :) personally i would go acularis, it looks neater.

Thanks again both of you, I may have to flip a coin. I won't be planting until my bargain wood becomes waterlogged, 10 days in the bath and dish washer and still shows no sign of sinking.

Yeah, i did think about that, but I am little conscious about adding anything that might alter my water chemistry. I don't want to harden my water anymore than it is and I am not sure what rocks are truly inert. Ideas??

Most rocks will be fine, Pour some vinegar on it to see if it will raise your ph (it will fizz) or place it in a bucket for a week with your tank water and then test and check the difference

Well I opted for acicularis, planted for a week now and so far it is still in place and withstood the cories.

Question is how fast does it grow, both vertically and horizontally?

The answer is pretty #40## fast, I am well chuffed. I may well get that lawn I've wanted after all. The runners are going out and the stems must have grown three inches already. Thanks for the advice guys.
