Elegance Coral Problem

I will still highly recommend a RO unit for a tank with corals. I want to get a elegance but they expand too much so.

REverse Osmosis its a unit that will tank basically everything out of your tap water so basically you get very pure water. You don't have to get one but its very highly recommended for corals. Mine is kent marine TFC maembrane for 120 dollors.

if i use tap water conditioner i should be alright ... right?
...i assume yes....especially since my green button polyp is doing so well....its an amazing green and i've never seen any that color before...online in pictures so i'm very happy...also its exteneded and split / jumped off the rock 3 times in 2 weeks....and i've had it for a month so i'm thrilled w/ it...also the elegence seems to be doing better.....but its still small..the tentacles are a little better but they're still small same size, but not shriveled like before...also they seem to be waiving now instead of clumped together or not even visable...maybe its acclimating now? perhaps the new spot is better for it? perhaps its still dieing and i dont even know it?
what should i test for ??? and what can i do to help it???
thanks

Im afraid a tap water conditioner does cut it :*)
RO is definately the water you need. Dont get me wrong, your filter does take out some mineral in the water but it will by no means stop algae growths, or nutrients that seep into the water supply.

At the moment your corals are doing well and this is great! however, the local water authority can (and do) put additives in the water supply any time they wish without warning to the people that use tap water. Freshwater shrimp often find their way into the piepworks and water authorities often does the water with treatments to kill inverts outright... this chemical will kill your corals and inverts just as fast. A simple water filter will not stop these types of chemicals from entering your tank. An RO unit will, (if its properly maintained)

how about using bottled water, such as poland springs or something? would that be better? the problem is its expensive! so i'm probably better off just buying an RO right? about how much are they....and where can i get one really cheap?

Definalty not bottled water! The label tells it all.. Spring water... this means it came out of the ground nad might well have harmful mineral in it. If I were to use water out of springs near my house the reef tank would be dead within hours as its heavy in COpper and tin deposits here. definately not recomended.

RO water can be purchased from your loca lfish shop usually. or failing that get your own unit. they are well worth it.

the elegance seems to be doing much better....althought the tentacles are bearly extended ... it is open more now and the tentacles are extending more than they used to....perhaps its finally acclimating? hopefully it will survive.... :D

glad to hear things are looking better for you. :D seems like for me the less I mess with my tank the better things do.

the problem is that he's not looking as good as he did in the store or for that matter hes not really expanding like the pictures always show *googled it* but i'm thinking just leaving it alone somemore should help...what'd you think?

I would leave it alone and hopefully it continues to open for you. this weekend will almost be a week. maybe a water change with r/o from your local fish store will help you water conditions and your coral
