Thats the standard equipment you would need for a 6ft reef tank
If you want to keep a reef with SPS 70w MH is not even worth considering I would put a single 150w over my lido 120
2 vortechs are the pricey option I agree but you would need 4 lesser pumps to keep the correct flow 40 x 675 = 27000LPH (Might be able to do with 2 of the new magnums)
5000 lph return pump as you need roughly 10x tank volume through sump is a little low but would suffice
so not really over kill but it depends what you want to keep
I would always recomend 3 x 250 over a 6 x 2 x 2 minimum else half of the tank would be dark

Well that's one hell of a standard tank 3 x halides, 2 Vortechs at full blast, a 5000 lph return pump and a 50W skimmer, glad I'm not running that one. My electricity supply has a digital consumption meter on it that displays in the kitchen and I reckon it's between 2-4p an hour thats with the nano and the Godiva 3' running. 4p would be with all lights on.1kw is easy for a standardish tankLights3 x 250W HAlides + 2 x 54W T5sReturn pump5000 Lph 78WattCirculation pumps2 x Vortech MP40 58WattSump Light11wSkimmer50WThats before you start adding all the little bits and pieces it all adds up very quickly
I agree with happy George. Surely that can't be the min requirement for a 6ft reef setup. That to me just looks like overkill. The majority on here that run 6ft tanks have not got half of that. You certainly wouldnt need 3 250w halides. You'd prob only need a couple of 70 w mh IMO.That would bring the elec bill down a bit for a start! Lol!
haha im not getting involved!! I am going to be running 3x 150w halides purely as I am getting them cheap Hopefully be good for anything I want to have!
