lol changed the house to those new energy bulbs, cant see the effect of the aquarium. but we do need to keep the house warm because of my little girl, so the heaters don't do much even in winter.

Someone should do a stusy or something, The heaters must cost a fortune!! My loecy bill is mad bonkers and there are onoly 2 of us living in my house

Know the feeling! We've changed all our bulbs to engergy saving ones, but being in a house with electrics that probably date back to just after the house was built - quite a long time ago, got lots of round plugs that dont fit the now standard 3 pin plugs! Also got no gas supply to the house, so it's electric storage heaters all the way, and those things literally eat electicity.

Everytime we get a bill, we both dread opening it up!

If you're using single or double fluorescent lighting, chances are they aren't adding a whole lot of your bill - about 15 to 45w. Filters too don't consume more than 15 to 20w - so the totoal consumption is less than forgetting to switch off a lightbulb (switch to energy savers in a couple of rooms and you've balanced out the power consumption). What kills are those heaters... Fortunately power is included in the cost of a rental here, so I can't complain (water too) -

I have 2 50 watt heaters running just about 24/7 I wonder if anyone makes a more efficient heater ??
