get with EDF, they are the cheapest at the moment. I'm doing £100 for both at the moment with them, and my missus has a salon at home.

British gas. It was more as we had to go onto a payment plan as I spent all the money on fish tanks. Lmao. 6 tanks running though.

  sounds about right! We were with BG but as of Monday are with Ovo. Should check them out - they have a standing charge but for those with higher consumption it usually works out better than tiered tariffs because the per unit prices are cheaper.

I rented a 2 bed house last year after leaving my wife and got my final bill yesterday as Ive moved to a 3 bed. It was a 2 bed with 5 vivs and 7 fishtanks in the end but not that quantity for the full year. I worked full time all day and bar the tanks would not have used loads more

They estimated £22 a mth and did readings and last bill in feb 2012 said £11 owing yet the final bill from meter reading when I moved last week said £970 used from april 28 2011 to 31 March 2012 so I have a balance of £722 to pay. Im gutted and its clear that my electricity usage is high and mainly cos of pets I have

Is this unusually high or are some of you guys using much more? Im going to have to sell on a couple of fish tanks and a couple of vivs I think because I cant continue like this with momey being tight for me at the moment

Sounds to me as though previous bills were estimated too low and you've had to catch up from before. Once sorted your usage should be ok. That doesn't help you to find the biggy payment now. Sorry!

this is British Gas as well can you just swap at any time?

noticed the internet modem and router which is on 24/7 uses a lot of electric so putting it on a timer plug to turn off at midnight and back on at 6, then off till 5 when we get home

saves having to remember to turn it off when were not in and having to mess about behind a wall unit to turn it off lol.

was this really that bad? would never have thought that

We pay around £40 per WEEK during the spring-summer and up to £55 in the cold winter.
That's with just electric, none of this electric and gas combined thing. I've asked them to come out and check numerous times but when they do they look at the tumble dryer and say "that's your problem". It makes my blood boil as we don't have it on in the summer.
Add heating to the house with coal and oil tank heating we're talking upwards of £80 a week to heat and light the place.
That's 7 tanks and one viv. I'm sure its the kids who leave stuff on though as there is always (in the evening) a minimum of 3 TV's on the go and that's along with 3 sky boxes or XBOX/DVD/Bluray/PS3/Wii plus 6 mobile phones charging every dayand other game consoles being charged as and when.
I'm not thinking of downsizing tanks, maybe downsizing kids would be a better idea. Anyone want one or two, or three or four?

Livestock classifieds Micko ;) Im sure Zod will be along shortly to politely ask you to edit your post

£40 a week? That's an awful lot of leccy used
I have 7 tanks, though my Betta tanks sponge filters are run off one air pump.
I'm on a card meter & pay about a tenner a week, that include all lighting, tv, washing machine etc

i use british gas and they send me a reminder every month to read the meter and then they bill be for the exact amount that i've used so there's no getting behind with payments.
