Trying to breed acara. Got 5,2 pared off. I put them in my breeding tank 100lt, sexing them is difficult. They seem to like the tank, plenty of stuff to lay eggs. Been in about 2 weeks the largest one keeps shimmering his her body, and has dug a hole in the sand. Question is are they male and female? are they breeding. Any help please.
Probably posted in the wrong place, sorry

It looks like they have thier breeding tubes out. Are you sure there are no eggs in the tank? Sorry can't tell you which one is and which one is female.

The tubes are down, but females can spawn infertile eggs together. Usually, a male Cichlid has a sharper tube than the female's, which tends to be blunter.
