Eheim Professionel 3 e 2078 External Filter

will it be good to use with a 345 ehiem mp tropical fish tank

im using a tetra tec ex1200 and im thinking on the upgrade

i can get it for £179.10 + 5% cashback but im wondering if it will do the job with 2 oscars and a plec

I was window shopping the 2074, more basic version of this filter for £210 including media on ebay this morning, I'm very tempted! Really like the idea of the random current generator, sounds perfect for my stream/river-esque flow planned for my Opsarius, Pearl Danios and hopefully some Steatocranus in the near future!

Hi de hi.. The person you need to talk to is Mr Spoon. If you go to page 4 ( hardware and topics ) and count 14 topics up from the bottom you should be close to the eheim 2078 topic. Now dont quote me too closely on this but, If you are buying this from ZOO or something, somebody similar , It's a German internet company and if anything does go wrong on it I am lead to believe that the Eheim uk importers will have nothing to do with any warranty issues.I also heard from another source that they are making about a fiver a filter and are banking on you buying the media and other bits from them. Saying that I know that mr spoon bought one. What can go wrong with them god knows. Its one hell of a bargain. cheers and let us know how you get on. Salty Pig

Yes salty pig i did buy one from zoo plus, i wish i got it from this country now as the electronics have gone wrong, i noticed poor water output so did everything recommended in the instructions but no improvement, so i got it running on manual mode which basically turns the electronics off and now it's got good output.

Lessons learnt - buy from my country
- electronics are just something to go wrong, save money and buy the classic.

I ended up ordering the 2078 on Sunday from my LFS who price-matched best deal I saw (300 squids for filter plus media kit), should be available for collection on Friday, the same day as the new Congo shipment arrive (which I'm dying to see, as it includes 4 or 5 different Steatocranus species)
