Eheim Professional 2224

Hi guys! Until I get enough live rock to have proper natural filtration I will be using my Eheim Professional 2224 external filter. What filter media would you guys recommend I use for a SW setup and will I have to clean it out on a weekly basis? I was thinking of maybe using some live rock rubble in one of the baskets, but would this be benificial?

I think most people either use LR rubble or chemical filtration (phosphate/nitrate removers) or a combination of them. the general advice seems to be not to use filter floss, foam pads, bio balls, etc as they collect to much detris and become "nitrate traps".

Using LR rubble is a great thing to do.

You may have to clean it out weekly, it depends on how the nitrates develop. Let them dictate your regime.

Great stuff!! As my filter has 2 baskets shall I fill them both with LR rubble or is there anything else on the market which you would recommend using?

What type of chemical filtration would you recomend in conjunction with the LR rubble? What is the name of the products available in the UK? Thanks!!
