Eheim Pipes.

i the fit is tight youmay not need to seal it. but it would be best to add silicon just incase.
as for the pipe. it would depend on the diameter of the hose coming off the canister. you want the pipe to be the same size as the hose or slightly bigger.

The filter connector is 12mm.

 sorry its the input/output on the filter..

I assume I dont have to use eheim pipe?

the hose barb? (the plastic part coming off of the canister that you connect the hose to)
you can use any hose and pipe. as long as it fits. you dont need to use the brand specific hose/pipes. its all the same. you can get both hoses and pvc pipes from your local hardware store. this will save you a lot of money. also, you can usually buy the hoses from your LFS by the inch. then you can only buy as much as you need, without buying a pre cut length from eheim, and have to trim off the excess.

Ihi if you buy some ehiem flexible piping or simelar that is the same size as the in/outlet pipes the flixi pipe sleeves over the hard hook in/outlets the outlet from the tank to the filter is normally slightly larger than the other pipe

hope this makes sense and helps

JAY :good:
