Eheim or Fluval

Before I strip out the UGF in my tank I need to set up a 2nd external filter.

I can't decide whether to go for another Fluval 104 or to try and Eheim Ecco 2231.

The Fluval is good overall, but noisier than I thought, has poor seals between the compartments inside the filter and the corregated hoses collect way too much gunk...

The Ecco's are slightly more expensive, but are they worth it?

Anyone used both?

The Ecco isn't bad, but it isn't typical Eheim quality. They cut corners in order to get a filter out that can compete with the budget minded Fluval, and it shows.

With the Eheim Classic model for a similar price you lose the convenience of the media baskets and self-prime, and gain a filter that absolutely top notch in quality and effectiveness.

Just a thought.

i have the eheim 2213 and priming it was a breeze without the self primer. also it is 100% dead silent.

I run an ecco and think its great, like the cichlid addict said, the quality is compramised a bit but I still think that the qualitys better than fluval.
