I have an Eheim classic 2217 and my outlet hose measures 12/16mm, and inlet hose 16/22mm. I recently set up an indoor pond (for a couple of goldfish) and the Eheim is going to be the filter, but the hoses don't work for the setup I have. I'm also getting a small leak in one of the cut off valves of the inlet hose, as I have had and used this filter for a long time.

So, what I'm going to do is leave enough original pipe hooked to the filter to then hook up to PVC pipe and also make my own ball valve setup (so I can still clean the filter).

I need to know what I can hook 12/16mm and 16/22mm up to in American measurement at the local Home Depot so I can get the pipe and parts. Does anyone have any info?

Thanks for any help!! :good:

OK I converted it myself;

12mm = .47 inches
16mm = .63 inches
22mm = .86 inches

What I'm still stumped on, is what would this translate to in clamping these hoses to pipe?

All I really need to know is 12mm and 16mm right? as these are the inside diameter?

12mm id, 16mm od is 12/16. You need the od of the pvc to match the id of the tubing. Clamp to compensate for looseness, heat the tubing with a lighter to soften if the id of the tubing is a little larger than the od of the pvc.

You can get an adapter like this if using threaded PVC. The flexible hose side should be 1/2 inch for the 12/16 and 5/8 for the 16/22. Finding the 5/8 size may not be so easy, the half inch is a snap. A 3/4 inch flexible hose insert is also common, but I am not sure if even warming the hose will make it possible to force in the adapter.

The above works if your rigid pipe end is threaded. If not, also get the male threaded (MPT v FPT) version of one of these and you are in business. 49 cents.

I always use this type of hose clamp when using a nipple insert to connected a flexible hose. It slides over the flexible hose, you insert the nipple and then tighten the clam with a screw driver to hold the hose on the nipple securely:

Thanks for your response and info guys. TwoTank that is exactly what I was wanting to know. What sizes would fit the hoses. I'm sure 1/2 inch is pretty common but will see if I can root out a 5/8 as well.

From there I can customize the delivery system on this filter to exactly what I need.

I actually have a large Sterilite tote setup for this but I may just go with some wood and pond liner and set up something proper for a few comets to be happy, maybe have some lights under the water too.

OK now I'm off rambling so I'll stop there.

Thanks again!! :good:
