Recently been given a Eheim 2217 Canister Filter. suitable 160 US G - Should be enough for my 20G then!!

looks very impersive - Compared to my existing internal filter.

It was given to me with all the tubes connections, rubber sticky things and clean filter media.

any way - Got it all set up - Which meant ripping the back of the cabinet my tank sits on - the missus wasn't happy

Filled it up - And got a few mouthfulls of water - just over an Inch of my tank is not in the filter  - should be quite efficient!!

Anyway - the pump kept stopping every so often - So I stripped it down and the propella shaft was snapped in 2 placed

See pic

Anyone know where I can get one of these from - They look as though they could break quite often - Appear to be ceramic!

or can anyone suggest a suitable alternative!

Cheers guys

Order one from a fish shop that sells eheims, i got mine to order a new lid for my 2211

That was my plan of action for the weekend - Just hoped I could get one online somewhere

Cheers

A lot of existing stores, which use eheim filters, are sure to have a bundle of spare parts lying around, why not try ringing up some lfs, and see if they have some in stock?

Do fish shops really use filters this small - I would have thought they would have been huge filters the size of a dustbin to handle the filtration for all those tanks?

thanks again for the help - I'm off to check that site!

Oh and how do you say it - I'm really concience of getting it wrong - Thats why I'm never gonna have a chichlid tank

I'd say

E Hyme

or is it

Eh Hyme

or E him

please help on this

I say........E Hyme........

......and people know what i am saying........ :D

Good luck........

....btw, that site seems harder to navigate than it looks, I couldn't seem to tally the part numbers with the part/prices .......hope you do better than I.

I had the same problem - Managed to find it from the descirption though

Ceramic Shaft - Can't be many of them

wen't through the order - £2.50 for the part - About 3 screens later they let me know they are also gonna charge be £2.50 for postage

This bit is basically a ceramic Match stick - But slightly longer - No way am I gonna pay 2.50 postage

I'll head out to the LFS at the weekend - Probably have to spend about £4 on petrol though!!

E Hyme

Got it!

A lot of LFS stay away from centralised filters becuase thdey can spread disease from one tank, to the rest of the tanks which is extremly dangerous for them, when they depends on healthy fish to sell well. That is why they try to filter each tank individually, or at most, have 2-3 tanks connected to the one filter.
