Hieveryone, can any of you lovely People tell what the difference is between Eheim Classic and Eheim Ecco.
Ihave a Fluval3+ in my tank, seems to be working ok,but i still have lots of little bitts floating in the water :dunno:
I have heard only good things about Eheim, and thought i might change over.Either to aEheim Classic 2213 or Ecco 2234.
Any comments.

The Ecco's are self priming which make the care a bit easier. Ecco is also better for planted tanks versus classic.

But do some shopping around because you might find that for an extra tenner or so, you can get a "professional" - which is even better.

What size tank do you have ?

Why is the ECCO better for plants?

Bloozoo2.My tank is a Fluval Duo Deep 800.Ithink it is about 28-30 uk Gallons.

modernhamlet.--Nice link thank you

I don't know about the Ecco, but I have the same tank as yourself. I swapped the internal filter for the Ehiem 2213 Classic and it works lovely.

I have a 2213 Classic as well and can't fault it.

I have heard that the Eccos are a little underpowered.

From the research I've done and a few people I've spoken to, it seems that the Ecco indeed has a "gentler output" (though that by mean means indicates that it won't do the job properly) and therefore less forceful on plants and thus "better" than perhaps (in that sense), than a classic.

I have neither though, but have a 2224 professional and it does very well in my planted 48 gallon.
