I noticed the flow on my Eheim 2126 Cannister had reduced, so I thought I had better give it a clean. I cleaned the filter media in tank water but didn't touch the hoses or the filter itself. I connected it all back up and it won't prime. In the meantime I've stuck the media compartments in a bucket of water with an airline but obviously as it's got a built-in heater, I'm going to have to get one sharpish. I'll nip out now and get one but does anyone have any idea what's gone wrong with the cannister filter?

I come home from work to find mine had stoped working,
No idea why

I unpluged it, Removed some of the water inside of the canister,
Primed it up, (open both check valves) then move handle down, then back up (VERY SLOWLY) so it would siphon then plugged back in and it was working,

wouldn't work untill I removed some water from the canister

Hope thats of some help

Thanks,

I got it working again (luck if anything else). I did find the flow indicator spring was not attached but that should have had nothing to do with the problem. I was priming it both 3/4 full and almost empty. It simply didn't suck the water through. However, now it is. Unfortunately I added some new apistos (see sig) yesterday and I was hoping to leave them in peace for a while before subjecting them to a water change. As it is, I've removed about 10% of the water. I only hope they don't get stressed out too much. In the meantime, I'm going to have a cup of tea and then head out and get a spare heater and a backup internal filter!!!! I was going to get Eheim but I think I won't bother now!!!!!!!

TeraTec is Very good,

with regards to Eheim you have to prime slowly if it's the one you have with the handle :)

Thanks, I'm pretty sure that TetraTec is the main brand my LFS stocks. The majority of externals they sell are TT. I'll check them out.
