Hi guys i am setting up a vision 180 tank with the eheim 2028 filter. Can people advice me on what media to have in the filter and in what order it all goes please. At the moment i have the 3 basket's the bottom one has the plastic rings, then i have the blue pad then next i have a basket (middle one) full of the little balls, then then last basket is filled with more balls then the carbon pad and then finally the white foam wool is this correct
Thanks

sounds not bad, well in the right order anyway. i would be inclined to replace the balls in the top tray with Efisubstrat pro (Eheims own)

What do you want to keep, and do you have any special requirements for water quality? For a more generalised set-up, what you have now is fine, but I'd move the balls up, scrap the carbon and move the floss down for a cheaper to run, low-maintanance and less bio-media fouling set-up ;)

Hi i am hoping to keep cardinal tetras, rummy nose tetras, glowlight tetras, harlequins, Maybe a red tailed shark but not sure. Was thinking clown loach but now having 2nd thoughts on them. I am hoping filtration should not be a problem as my tank is only 180 litres and my filter filters up to 800. If i can ask why would you remove the carbon i know this needs to be chnaged monthly however people advise me saying this removes a lot of nasties from the water is the this true

you will find that many do not use carbon. its hard to say it has any beneficial effect, at all. there are also questions on its safety, after a day or so. the only time is, seems, to be used. is for the removal of medication.

Thanks mate thats will save me some money

Agreed, just a money sink. Good to have arround if you ever suspect poisoning or need to remove medications, but not what I'd call a staple filter media.

How the filter is set now will be fine for what you want to keep
