Pierce has beung behaving very badly. he was always a very sweet Betta; when i introduced him to the Tetras and Loaches he was nice, when he flashed at his reflection he just puffed up and stared a bit, like he was warning it.

but then i add some Platties to the tank in exchange for the Tetras, and he goes whacko! all of a sudden he's chasing the Platties down and snapping at them. i've just noticed how much they look and act like female Bettas... d'you think he may think they're Grrlies and just doesn't know how to react? he used to be quite good in the community!

 He's in Luv  and sadly can't mate with them, if you want him to be nice again you should sepperate the plattys because if they won't mate he'll kill them. Andd if you get him some girlies he'll mate with them and then go back to bullying the plattys because they (still) won't mate. And he'll kill them (if they're not allready dead because the male betta guards the eggs and he'll kill fish that get too close. And once the female has laid her eggs the male will most likely kill the female too. Rather morbid isn't it?

oh my... and i have a week to wait before i can move him into his own tank! hmm... i suppose i could bunk my Goldie with my brothers for a little while and use that tank for Pierce, but i really don't want to as it isn't heated in any way

ahh... maybe i'll ask my mother to pick up the Starfish on Monday

Hi BettaBoyz :)

I think you better get him out of there.....like really fast. Put him in a big stainless steel pot if you have to, but get him away from the platties.

you were right; he is in wub! right beside the breeder housing the Platy fry he's built a little nest and he's protecting it and 'his' babies!
