I have kept killi fish before, while I liked them they always stuck to the top of the tank and I dont really want that again especially in such a small tank. I feel like it wouldnt be enough surface area for them? they were always all over the surface on my standard dimension 29g tank.

Just go for 3 or 4 male guppies then or half a doz male endlers if you can get them

Personally I'd plant it heavily the put shrimp of your choice in then a badis, I really want one myself there like a 2cm long really colourful gourami
