Hi All,

I was looking for hardware for my new planted tank setup and found www.ecoaqualizer.com

This is hilarious, it claims to do all sorts of good things in the aquarium...like energise salt (Na+Cl-), replicate the earths magnetic field (because my tank isn't located on earth) and my personal favourite create electromagnetic photons without the presence of electricity.

Not only that but a simple ping of their "Independent" product review link is hosted on the same server as their home page.

I thought the good people of aquaria needed to strike a blow back in the face of such blatant rip-offs vying for our dollar, like our hobby wasn't expensive enough already. I did lie about being a member of the NSW cichlid society (sorry guys), I didn't try and bring you into too much disrepute.

This is the communiqué I sent to their contact email address....

Hi,

I've been maintaining reef and freshwater aquariums for many years and
I'm a prominent member of many fish keeping organisations in
Australia. During the NSW Cichlid Society meetings in particular there
has recently been a lot of talk about the benefits of your product.
Many of our members have been impressed at it's effects in keeping
fish and raising of fry. A lot of the discussion has come about from
the suspicion that one of the key elements in fish (and particularly
young fry) deaths is the presence of dihydrogen monoxide (DHMO) in
aquariums. DHMO has been the bane of many a fish keepers existence
here in Australia as it penetrates nearly every aquarium
indiscriminate of location or aquarist experience

We quietly believe that your product could be responsible for the
reduction of DHMO in our members tanks and would dearly love to
promote your product if you can confirm you've seen similar results in
a controlled testing environment.

One day we may see an Australia free of the curse of DHMO. I would
suggest placing the good news regarding the eco-aqualizer's DHMO
reducing capabilities on your FAQ.

Regards
John

cant say i really noticed a difference when it got installed, didnt pay anything for it though.

And yes, their claim seem quite far fetched....

Did you get a reply to that message?
