So I have moved all of my community fish to a new tank. Left in my 75 gallon are 2 EBJD's (Electric Blue Jack Dempsey's). They are both about 1.5-2 inches. So I've been hearing all different types of things as far as stocking the rest of my tank. Now Im not worried about the fish getting too big because I have a 210 gallon I will be setting up hopefully within the next few months. This is my list to choose from- which are the more aggressive and get the biggest: Firemouth, Green Texas, JD, Rainbow Cichlid, Flowerhorn, Threadfin geophagus, orange pike cichlid. The rest which are on the smaller, peaceful end: German Blue/Gold Ram, double full red cockatoo, blue acara, apistogrammas, redtail shark.

What would you choose? and what is compatible? Some tell me the smaller, peaceful ones are too small and will get eaten eventually. To go with the bigger ones...and others say the bigger ones will grow too fast and are too aggressive for the ebjd's ?????? HELP !!!

Generally flowerhorns get very aggressive and need a tank of their own. I've had a couple work in a community tank, but its not very common.
Unless you get lucky and end up with a docile flowerhorn (not likely), then all the rest of your fish are potentially in danger.

The rams, apisto's, redtail shark are definately at risk so I wouldn't include them in your stocklist at all. I would also say the blue acara and rainbow cichlids will probably suffer, not bold enough to stand up to the larger fish.

Its hard to say what would work, as each fish is different so no one can provide you with a list and say 'Have this in your tank'. Though as bitteraspects points out the flowerhorn will most likely be the decider, that an the orange pike (pike cichlids can be very nasty).

The mix of fish you propose is an odd one, and I'd think about which route you want to go - bigger more aggressive fish (more risky), or a more peaceful tank eg. blue acaras, severums, firemouths

Its true that EBJD are more delicate than regular JD's, and grow slower. Up until they are 4" they are also fairly delicate.
