hey peeps
my new fluval ebi tank arrived the other day so have been working on it since i got it and thought i would start a journal

specs:
tank: fluval ebi 50 litres 35x30x30 cm l/w/d
filter: fluval nano
heater:eheim 50w
substrate: fluval shrimp
plants: java fern and micro java fern
cryptocoryne beckettii "petchii"
echinodorus blehri
staurogyne repens
Utricularia graminifolia
soon to add pogostemon erectus
fish: 2 scarlet badis
soon to add 6 pygmy corys
so when the tank arrived the backing was siliconed on so i took that off and removed the silicone from the tank( a bu*ger of a job!!) then measured the size of the filter and cut the backing to size and siliconing the 2 pieces together to hide the filter and heater. made a hole for the filter spray bar and fitted it i cut some holes in the bacground so the water can get into the back chamber and siliconed tights over the holes (never use suerglue on foam it smokes and burns lol) this is what it looked like after all the backing was in

ive got some Utricularia graminifolia on the way now which will carpet the tank (hopefully) and i also want to get some pogostemon erectus for the background where the java ferns are now

what do u recon so far?

Looks very nice! Scarlet basis are so pretty! Did you know that your photos are upside down? :)

hopefully all should be sorted now no pics at odd angles or upside down

Lol they still at funny angles for me but I can see them fine, nice layout, love dragon stone and Badis, make sure you give them places to hide, I started with 3 and have 1 now, very aggressive to each other. Good start. :good:

thanks jen.

hopefuly they should be the right way up now but they are always sideways when i look at them on my phone i think its because they are iphone pics

onto what ive done today my order of Utricularia graminifolia and liquid carbon came today (to my surprise as i only ordered them yesterday) so after work was the fun (NOT) job of planting it when they arived they were in a vitro gel and the plants just looked like balls of green no roots and no top so to speak so i have just placed them in the soil the way i think they should go. unfortunatly because they have no roots ive had to push them into the substrate a little further as they FLOAT which is not ideal but they arnt floating at the moment so i took a pic

i still have about 7 or 8 lumps left which i have put into my old tank untill it is needed im loving my little tank so am thinking of trying a micro scape with a 12 litre tank next

tomorrow i think i shall head to my lfs to get my pogostemon erectus for the very back

forgot to add that my scarlet badis are LOVING this tank ive never seen them so active

I was watching my badis' this evening and I think one is female (I originally had 3 one was almost white when I got it and decided it was female but it died) but when I was watching the 2 I have left tonight one was wrapping itself round the other hard to explain but looked like courting or the art of love maybe

Could be, is it greyish colour? Really rare to find females, if not a really dull colour then they could be getting ready to fight, mine were ok for weeks then I stopped seeing one of them, shrimp must have dealt with him after dying, then the last two would chase each other about and almost looked like they were wrestling, had no where else to put one of them so ended up with 1 :(. He's now in with 25 Ember Tetra and he keeps clear of them lol.

Ok Ive got a little question about oxygen the filter in this tanks is moving the water around but there is no bubbles in this tank does this mean no oxygen in the tank my other tank had an above good filter so always had bubbles in the tank and I'm a little confused

Cool, very lucky there mate, look forward to pics.
