I'd like to say that the design is very much the same as a tetratec(marineland) and that parts look like they would work going from 'pictures.' Like I said earlier, the filter has been running just as good now as it was the day I got it a year ago. That doesn't mean its as superb as a name brad filter, but for the price, It's a good short term buy, I guess.
I'm not go around, telling all my friends to buy one, saying they're better than Rena, Fluval, eheim or anything else. It's suited me for my 55g so far and I do check it about once every couple of weeks to make sure that there aren't any leaks coming from the main seal or anywhere else. Everything has been running fine so far(touch wood).
There's gotta be other people on here or elsewhere, that have tried the dreaded jebao canister filters and had some success. I post links to stateside reviews on those but don't wanna link to other forums. Also Cascade still sells there awful high water bypass filters to this day. Granted they are EVERYwhere as far as buying them, ebay included, they are still terrible. Actually, worse than the sunsun canisters IMO.
I guess, after all this nonsensical typing, my point is that the filter isn't the next fluval or eheim or Rena. But as a secondary filter, or a backup in case of a failure, it works. If quality over cost was the only reason for buying equipment, why are there so many brands that offer basically similiar features?
I think no matter what material object a person buys in their lifetime, the longer it lasts, the cheaper it costs. If you do the math.
I'm anxious to hear the people that bought the other models of this thing. I'm skeptical to see the big differences in flowrates amongst the models.
I think I found a knockoff of a knockoff
