Easy To Look After, Nice Looking Tropical Fish?

i will be moving my fish into my new 110litre tank i. the next couple of weeks. im just in the process of cyclng it. whe. its cycled i will be moving 3 plattys and 6 guppies. oh and one yamato shrimp.
i was to add some nice easy to look after community tropicals. or one nice fish that wont bully my other fish.

i was thinking of neon tetras. but the guys at pets at home said that wouldnt be his choice.

can i have your opinions please. this wont be happening for a few weeks. but id like ideas so i can research the fish.

I would say neons would look cool. But they tend to be so inbred and get neon tetra disease that spreads to other fish.
 
I would do a shoal of cardinals instead, they are more active, more healthy, and look almost the same. I would do a school of 8-9 tetras
 
Also maybe panda cories for a bottom feeder. They are super cute. You should be able to get away with 6-7.

I love my neons, bought 9 and havn't lost any. Have only had 'em since September though. They don't school much..if you want a tight schooler I'd go with rummynose tetras.
 
For a centerpiece fish or pair I'd look at peacock gudgeons. They are very colorful, will greet you and beg for food.

neons are easy just make sure they ar eneons and not cardinals as they can be difficult all livebeares although swordtails are huge if youre willing to pay out a bit bleeding heart tetra can be very nice

A decent sized shoal of any of the placid barbs/tetras/rasboras/danios would look good.

thanks guys. ive got plenty to choose from now. i did want a silver shark. but done some research and it says ideally get 3, and they can grow up to 35cm. my 110l ta ks isnt nowhere near big enough.

is there a small shark, or anything that looks like a shark i can get that isnt aggresive?
i dont mind just getting one if they are allowed to be on their own

Not really, 110l isn't really big enough for any of that type.

You may also like Rummy Nose Tetras. These peaceful fish add colour, school tightly, and their bright red noses are like your very own alarm system in the tank. If something is not right their noses turn pale!

ok then small sharks are a no no then.
thankyou all so much for your replies. im going to do lots of research because i dont want to overstock and stress my fish.
ive got plenty of time as ive said. still need to cycle my new tank.

Harliquens, they are lovely, don't grow massive and stick close together, well in my tank they everywhere but I like them, they do few colours also so can do a nice mix. Again need larger numbers.


No one has asked what your water is like such as hardness as some fish won't last long with hard water

Another great option is any of the Blue Eyes that are available to you in the UK. I would stay away from Pacific Blue Eyes since they can get pretty big but Spotted Blue eyes stay small and are nice peaceful schoolers with easy to raise fry. Another option would be threadfin rainbows which are also nice schoolers and stunning and interesting to watch as the males spar.

My vote goes to the rummy nose, I have 10 and LOVE them, wish I could add more!  I also have lamb chop rasboras (espei) which are unique looking too.  Cardinals would also be on my list, but I don't have any room, ha haa.
