havent kept killifish for ages, have had cape lopez lyretails, clown panax and i think 1 other sp. I have just got myself a job and would like to get a few more, i really like some of the south american killi's but dont think i will find them in aus. Are any of the annuals easy to keep and breed? Of course will get more Aphyosemion but really wanna try some Nothobranchius. Any ideas?

There are easy and hard Nothos.
The best ones to try if your just getting back into the hobby again would be.
N. guentheri or N. Palmqvisti,
The reasons are that the fry are larger and also the incubation (diapause) is much shorter.
You should be able to get eggs mail order from one of the international bodies.
You used to have you own National Australian Killifish Association but I think it has now disbanded.
Check out your local aquarium societies where members will know a few sources for sure.
For south americans I love Austrolebias nigripinnis (old cynolebias) a little quarrelsome but a lovely fish.
I'm into rivulus now but I would consider these a little taxing to begin with.
I hope this was of some help
If you need mor info then ask away mate.

P.S, Whereabouts are you in Qld. I was in Brisbane in March and am comming over again next year.
Stayed in Surfers Paradise last time, Next year I'll be staying with relatives in Eagleby. Bloody amazing country you have the pleasure of living in.

i'm in bris, let me know when you head over i would love to meet up, i should have a few killi's by then so you could come and give me some tips. My old boss is an importer of tropical fish, might be able to get some more killi's into the country via him.

Sounds like a plan, stick around and I'll arrange with you nearer the time.
Yeah you can get virtually any species of killifish these days, it's knowing where to dig.
Nice speaking to ya

there arnt that many sp in aust but as far as i know there are no killi's on the list of banned imports so should be able to get most things in.

Then just buy the Notho eggs from hobbyists abroad if you are allowed.

I reckon eggs would be yer best bet given transit times you've mentioned.
Check to see if your allowed to get eggs past your customs etc. (Aussie rules are very strict) If you can (legally) I'll get some to you. But give me some time to source.
