Easy Filtering?

I am having money (and filter)problems and was wondering if someone could help.My current Fluval 2+ is on its last legs and cant seem to filter my tank properly and i have no money to buy a new one! So i was wondering if someone could help me with my problem.I was hoping for a D.I.Y filter that would only last a month that could keep my tank filterated till my birthday(im 14! )So if anyone can give me any advice they are very welcome!

P.S What is a sump?

a sump is another tank under the main tank that houses all the equipment. they are used on comercial systems and on tanks where the water needs to be spot on. as for the filter breaking, what is the problem, is the impeller wearing out? you could try and fix it. and wait for the new one in another month.

as stated above if its the impeller then u could just buy a new ones of theses at a fraction of the cost of a new filter

or if u have an air pump? u can make up or buy some kind of corner box filter or sponge
