Wow. You're lucky living right next to an airport! I used to live close to one, but not that close.

nice shot piltdownpaul.

personally I can't understand the fuss about the Vulcan. it was a filthy inefficient, and in military terms, useless plane. called into action, in anger, only once. even then it flopped. (Port Stanley Airport). now we spend millions, at a time when emissions are right at the top of our agenda, to get one flying again. it beats me! i lived in Cumbria in the 70's. these things use to practice low level runs through the hills and valleys. so i have seen them, whilst flying, from the top bottom and side. even if you didn't see it you could follow it trail of filthy exhaust, for some time after it passed by.

Now if you give me a Spitfire, Hurricane of Lancaster, well that, imo, is a different matter.

wow, that's like exactly the polar opposite of how i feel!!!

I'd hate to have planes going by all the time. noisy and i just don't get the appeal! sorry

That is a BIG plane!

I love airports and airplanes! I was going through the o' hare airport with some school group. It was like 1pm and I was running down the moving sidewalks as fast as I could. It was my first time playing on them....... When I hit the end going full speed..... I crashed  .

It was still fun though :D .

Just to clear something up though, i travelled to east mids on tuesday. I live close to Bruntingthorpe aerodrome. This is not an active airfield as such, there is a museum with aircraft that do taxi runs but we dont get aircraft coming in regular. The vulcan only comes back rarely. The last major aircraft to do exercises from there were American B47's (a seriously poor jet-landing wise) when the base was took over by the americans in the 50's.

Get what you say about it being an inefficient aircraft but some of the russion cargo planes that leave ema are on a par with that!
