Easiest Cichlid To Breed

If you have the room, rainbow cichlids are easy to breed. They readily tolerate hard alkaline water so they don't take the extreme measures needed for some south americans. Again they are hard for people to sex, they seem to know, so you start with a half dozen juveniles and let the fish sort it out.
So far for me they have bred but not raised their young. My son has them breed in a colony breeding type setup in his tank. These guys are real pigs when it comes to eating greenery and they can't be conditioned well without lots of vegetative matter in their diets. Spirulina will work for that aspect but they will eat almost any plant in the tank with them.

i might buy 6 keyholes and try it in my discus tank

Keyhole cichlids are awesome fish. I just got a pair I bought them knowing they were sick. They are strong little guys and are doing well. They are peaceful, good size, not shy like my ram who I think hates me. My keyholes come swimming right up to my face when ever I go to check on them. They are so cute. I never see them so when I saw these two I could not pass them up I had to save them.
Good pick. I hope it works out.

i used to have some a long time ago, my discus have started laying eggs again now so goona put keyholes off for a while

Well discus fish are really pretty. How are their personalities?

I am always tempted by them, but Do not have the room for the size tank they need.

never had a problem with them its great seeing them change in to adults as they look completely different when they are young.... will always come up to the top and eat of your hand not shy atall

:- Convict cichlids are very easy to breed, but they need a 20 gallon aquarium, you are better off trying dwarf cichlid, such as rams.
