Sorry, didn't want to post in the long thread cause this is more of an inquiry.

I was in the pet store today and I saw something that looked similar to the large white kissing gourami (but it wasnt).. and big enough to be a smaller version of the giant white gourami (but it wasnt!).

It was green on one side in clutches of 3-5 scales with 3-5 scales in between of white scales and the same on the other side with purple. The price was at 49.99!

Though I thought it might be a dyed fish (something I would not buy because of the cruelty of the process)--I wasn't exactly sure. Does anyone know for sure? I have seen the exact same fish (same colors on each side) at other fish stores in Southern CA.. did someone really pull these things out and hand paint specific scales? Please let me know if anyone knows what I'm talking about.. thanks!

Like this, but another kind of fish?

I am not too good on gouramis, so there may be a kind that has markings like you described but with that price tag I would not be so sure. :/

Hmm.. just like the one you posted (I think) but the color mark-up looked almost perfect (even and such) unlike the one you posted. Perhaps they are one in the same.. safe to say they are dyed? One side green one side purple..

I am not sure, of course, but I would say that any uneven fish is dyed. I find nature to be quite symetrical.

I am not sure, perhaps there is a fish like this but I doubt it,

:/

Probably was died. For that price I'm sure they pay the people to put them on even, just so maybe they can dupe some more experienced people into buying them.
