If the tank is heavily planted you'd be O.K. the main problem you would see there is aggression between the puffers, but the plants and caves should make puffer on puffer encounters less likely. That being said, less pufffers makes the chance of aggression even less likely than that. I'd research more into finding some interesting tankmates for 5 or so DP's

With 10 dps in a 30 gallon you would really have your work cut out for yourself. I kept 4 in a 25g, and it was hardly a dull tank, and there were still occasional squabbles.

Less is more with DP's.

yeah we've decided on 5/6 and shed loads of plants, rocks, wood etc etc etc
