Hi was looking at one of these mainly because they are small I think I have space and they look very interesting, but do they need a brackish enviroment?

Dwarf Puffer

Any information

Cheers

Dan

They need/like:
  • Freshwater- no salt required.
  • very clean water
  • at least 5g per puffer
  • plants & caves
  • meaty diet including live or frozen bloodworm, brine shrimp, daphnia & snails.
  • bright lights
  • gentle current
They should not be kept with other fish apart from armoured plecs.

They live in groups and like company when young, then aggresively defend territories when older.

i have no idea if there are more than one kind but the one i saw was fresh not bracish. but they are agressive fish.

SirMinion pretty much covered it all there :)
A general/informational read on dwarf puffers can be found here: Information on Dwarf Puffers

Only thing I'd like to add is, if you can find the freshwater bumblebee goby around, they can make great tankmates. Besides that though, I wouldn't try anything.

What everyone else said!

If you want EVEN MORE additional information, I suggest the link in my sig, however, please note I have never kept dwarf puffers so I am not necessarily correct!
