Dwarf Puffer Pricing?

woah woah woah

your tank is nowhere near enough for 4-5 dwarf puffers, no matter how heavily planted, you will suffer losses

i would keep a veyr maximum of 3 females in your tank, and thats at a push

i have 6 in a 15 gallon with only 1 male, and there is a lot of fighting going on at the moment, im just waiting to move house(friday) and i will be taking 2 of them out for a seperate 32L tank

So your keeping 4 in a 15 gallon but he carn't keep 4 in a 14 gallon?

The idea of keeping 4 instead of 3 works better because the agression is
more spread out. Whereas not focused toward two individuals.
It works much the same as mbuna.

If your working on the idea of one per every 5 gallons, your putting two into an 8 US gallon tank.
There will be one dominant one, and the other will sucome to all that dominants aggression.

But you are right in only keeping females is possible, if not, only one male though :good:

Cheers,

Maximus

sorry mate, im working in UK gallons here

he has an 11G tank, and i have a 15G UK, and i would not reccomend any more than at the most 4 for my 15G after having them for a month or so

ill be shipping 2 of them out in a few weeks when my new tank is set up, and hopefully leaving 1 male with 3 females, and 2 females on there own, as its only the male that is very aggressive

its ok! i have been doing research! just the pricing i wasnt sure on tbh, my tank has been set up for a few weeks now! well planted tank with filter heater and all the needed water requirements, the tank was cycled with a few glowlight tetras so their still in there but they have been ok so far! any trouble n they will come out! as the tank was purely just for puffers! will eventually be getting another but will just get a redeye as uve said that i shudnt mix types!

feeding it on f.bloodworns n snails atm!

any more advice appreciated

Which Red Eyed Puffer did you get?

There are about 6 species with red eyes...very few of which should have more than one per tank. Can you post a picture of the fish that you purchased.

she is on her own now! cant take her back so its ither keep her, give her away or  well no other option! they were loads of them in a small tank in the pet store!!

she seems happy n loves frozen bloodworm n espesh the snails! slurps them out but doesnt eat the shell! atm id say it WAS ABOUT AN INCH LONG IF NOT SMALLER! how long does it take for them to be fully grown and how big will she get!? also any tips on feeding b.worm? atm im defrosing them in a bowl with tank water in n then spooning them in to where the puffer is swimming!! go quite quick! shes shy tho n when i go near the tank she hides in the plants! one in perticilar :good:

cant get a pic now but heres a short explaination:

it has red eyes sorta greeny in the middle! white tummy with black and yellow patterns on its back and its tail is like a rectangle with the same colours as on it back n has propellar like fins. its head is sorta roundy with a bit of a smiley face :hyper: ad say it looks like a sorta deflated partially filled water bomb

We still need a photo to identify. Type the puffers name into Google and have a look for any sp. that look like yours.

Why coudent he have 4 DPs in this tank? I see no reason why they woudent get along if it was planted. A friend keeps 3 in a 5gal with no problems at all, and has been for quite some time.

Also red eyes (C. lorteti and C. irrubesco) can live happily with dwarf puffers, but this requires knowledge of both sp. and good aquarium management.

Get a photo of the puffer you have in that tank.
