Dwarf Puffer Fry

Are you sure they are dead?? They don't move much the first few days (when they stay a reddish brown colour). You need to get some small live food ready for your next lot

I find the the hardest part is really keeping the newly hatched alive. They still die even at a few weeks old. Also, if you use the same type of breeding trap that I use (clear plastic one with slits down both sides) then they can still go through those tiny slits.

When you do water change, make sure the new water temperature matches the tank's so that there's not too much of a shock.

But don't get disheartened. Once they start mating, they go on for months and months unless you change their environment.

Good Luck :D :D

i hope they were dead - they went down the toilet!!

they seem to have nibbled on this "liquid" fry that i made for my filter feeding shrimp.

the trap is very fine netting, so it should be fine.

i hope they do spawn again, but i just put the java moss into another tank on the window sill.

Trust me, they do it almost daily  but obviously I only pick out the eggs and babies when I do water change. They only scatter a small number of eggs here and there each time.

hmm.. do you think they'd do better if i just left them in the tank? its really heavily planted.

That might be the easier option but the adults do hunt down the fry though. You can try again putting them in a breeding net with large clump of Java moss. Not sure how you can keep the food inside without it falling through the bottom

Be patient. I've only ever raised 11 puffs from hundreds of eggs and fry over the 2 years (without a fry tank, as you already know). You can do it too with a bit of patience :good:

oh, that few?

The adults dont bother baby shrimp, so maybe they wont bother the fry? hopefully lol

thanks for your help :D

I wouldn't be so optimistic about that  but plenty of time to try and see how things go ;)
