Dwarf Puffer Biotope...

I doubt ill bother with otto's they need to be in a group of 3 or more and if im going to have 3-4 puffers there wont be enough space. Im thinking of trying shrimp, but not sure.

Sorry guppy_man, I wasn't trying to put you off shrimps at all. I love having the shrimp-DP setups. May I suggest keeping some non freshwater breeding shrimps with them? For example, filter shrimps, red nose shrimps, Amano, Ninja shrimps, etc...

Nice setup btw :good: Love the plants, not sure about the sticks  they look a little too erect and "architectural". Can't wait to see your DPs :hyper:

HELLO

i am going to be emptying my 20 gal bowfront tank of my tropical fish as they are moving to a larger tank and was considering using the spare 20 gal as a puffer tank. how many puffers would u recommend in that size. i will be having plenty of bog wood and sand substrate and fake plants and rocks

thanks

i doubt you could ever breed them as far as i know its been done once in captivity your looking at 1 male and 3 females

Isnail has bred these if im not mistaken?... Its not difficult aslong as you get the water stats correct, and feed the right foods.

Anyway a little update, i have added co2 to the tank to help the plants out, hopefully get a big bush of hygro going. I have been unable to find any dead leaves because of this weather weve had. So really not much has changed.

I have also been unable to find dp's anywhere, i may have to resort to buying online which i didnt want to do because of the extra £10 shipping charge.

I'm going to have one last ring around tomorrow to see if anywhere is selling them, if not then online it is. :good:

Indeed I have :) My oldest female is still spawning but I haven't raised any babies lately.

Hope you find some DPs locally guppy_man. Good luck :good:

if you do have to resort to buying on line let me know how it goes and where from as i might be in the same boat. good luck with the search. tank looks great

Thanks isnail, maybe i won't add any shrimp then, might just add them to the 5gallon snail tank i have. Much better and safer for them.
Heres the pics... still not overly happily with it, maybe once i get some dead leaves for ground cover, and the Hygrophila grows taller i think it will look better. So what do you think?

its nice, but how do you clean it?
DP's are messy as i have read
