I saw a dwarf platy at my LFS. They are so small  ! Only the size of fry. Does any one have one? Can't they be eaten by bigger fish?

They probably are fry. As far as i am aware, the "dwarf platys" are either just stunted growth inbreds, or are fry, i don't think there are any true healthy strains of dwarf platys.

Oh you cant go saying that (Even if i too agree with you!!)

Your surly be flammed for saying their stunted and inbreed!!!!!

There is a tank of them in the local PetSmart where I live. They're bred as dwarves. Nothing in the tank is larger than a 3 month old normal Platy. Like most specical traits, they would be inbred.

i have one, i have had it for 6 months and it got to only 1". so it was a true dwarf.

I went to Petsmart today and bought a pair, female & male. When I left the bag in for 15 minutes, the female had about 18 babies. About 3 didn't survive. It was interesting hehe.

I have 2 myself, had them for almost 1 year, and they are in with 2 Kissing Gourami and they don't bother them.

I jut sent mine off to live with dmarie04. When I bought them they were pretty young. They maxed out at around an inch or so and I have 11 healthy fry from one of the females. I had a group of 4 females and 2 males.THEY ARE NOT STUNTED BY BEING RAISED IN BAD/CRAMPED CONDITIONS!!! Fish don't restrict themselves to the size of the tank. They are true dwarfs.

You'll need to get at least one other female. The males are very persistent and your female will never get any rest if it's just her.
