Hi everyone

We are thinking of adding 2 dwarf gourami to our 112 litre tank.

I'm getting a lot of conflicting information regards to their size when mature

Can anyone help me out? Thanks :)

General recommendation is to buy at least three Dwarf Gourami...two ladies to the one male.
Size-wise, we're talking up to 7.5cm for males, with females coming in at 6cm.
Check out Seriously Fish for many of your fish-related queries.

That's great. Thank you....

Do you have any tips on how to sex juvenile dwarf Gouramies ?

Much appreciated

Welcome to this place.
I keep reading they’ve a lot of inherited medical problems these last few years but as I’ve not kept them since the early 80s I cant comment.
@Wills is one of the moderators on here and is in Yorkshire so he may have an idea of the best/most helpful place to buy some.
Lovely fish. Though I think they’re just slightly over the size I’m comfortable with viewing in my tank. Ive been offered three recently.
Have fun here. It’s the most friendly helpful fish forum on the internet.

Sexing them is quite easy, males have longer dorsal fins where as females just have a little bump of a fin. In terms of where to go I've seen/heard good things about Viscum but never bought from them. Otherwise if you don't mind a bit of a drive I'd always recommend Wharf Aquatics which is I think just down the M1 from you in Pinxton.

I always recommend looking at Honey Gourami rather than Dwarfs, they are usually a bit calmer and less prone to disease than Dwarfs in my experience.

Hey :)
Whatever Gouramis, they want soft acidic water, meaning :
pH 6 to 7 maximum
GH (hardness) below 8
KH (alkalinity) below 6
Very slow flow
Heavily planted tank including floating one.

can you provide these conditions to them ?

HI guys, thank's everyone for your advice.

We only live 5 mins from visucm and are up there quite a bit.
Great shop with a huge variety of stock, very helpful friendly staff.
would recommend to anyone.
We have been this weekend and purchased 3 gourami's we feel we have met all the conditions cheers Avil
They seem very happy with their new home.

wouldn't dream of getting anything else :)
It is often (very) hard to differentiate a dominated male that mimics female colors to avoid dominant male agrressivness and harassment !
