Can dwarf gourami disease cause that @Colin_T?

Not usually. The gourami Iridovirus affects the fish's immune system and causes them to get sick, act unwell (sleep a lot, don't interact like normal), and they regularly develop sores but not always. As the virus progresses the fish becomes weaker and eventually dies. This normally takes a week or two.
