I’m hoping somebody can help me identify what is wrong with my Dwarf Gourami. I’ve had him for about 3-4 months. He is in a 10 gallon tank with 2 Cory catfish, and 2 platys.

Ammonia is zero
Nitrite is zero
Nitrate is 5.

I first noticed he had a little hole in his dorsal fin and was missing some scales. The damage to his fin keeps getting worse.

Tonight I noticed the red spot near his face. He is eating and swimming normally. I’m really hoping it’s not the dreaded Dwarf Gourami disease. Photos below. Any ideas?

I'm no expert, but it looks like your other fish may be biting him, because if he was sick, he would probably not be eating normally. good luck :)

Do a 75% water change every day for 2 weeks. @Colin_T is our disease guy so he can advise further when he logs on

just a bacterial infection. it will need treating asap if you want to keep it alive, however the medication might cost more than the fish.
