Hi, we have a Dwarf Gourami in our 29 gallon tank with about 4 molllies (1 is still a baby), 5 platties (4 of which are babies),
and one rubber lipped pleco. They have all been living quite peacefully for almost a year I would say. The mollies are a bit newer though, not sure how old they are. Anyway, I notice the Gourami hides out in the big pot we have in the tank. He is always the last one to come and eat in the morning and I have also noticed him slamming around every now and then. But today I notice he has a slight bulge in one side. He seems to be still eating and swimming normally. Is this a bacterial infection of some sort? I have read that Gourami's are notorious for these types of infections. Is there anything I can do while he still seems to be okay?

I am not sure myself as mine never recieved anything like that before but post this in the emergency section for more results and incase it is an emergency situation,

This happened with my female dwarf Gourami, she grew a bulge in her stomach, stopped eating and stayed in one spot of the tank for the entire day it was a bacterial infection, unfortunately I noticed it too late to do anything for her.

I use interpet no.9 for internal bacterial infections, and it worked fine the last time I used it.

Have you managed to find the emergency forums?

may be an anchor worm, i was just reading it in one of my few fish books
i'll admit i don't know that much about fish, or anchor worms, but from the description of it, it may be the beginning of one
but don't get too worried, i'm not sure, lol
