I feed my clawed frog frozen blood worms and he goes crazy. I feed the oscars first then pour in the blood worms. They will also eat small fish so watch what you put in the tank. I was moving some fish around and took the frog out of the transfer bag too early and in two minutes he had a 2" shark in his mouth.
A pickle jar (unless it was over a gallon) is no home for an adf. Also, was your frog the only thing in your tank? because it was probably another fish. If not i am willing to admit maybe it is possible, but like you said a very isolated incident. I dont think anyone should ever worry about an adf harming any of their fish! I am sure you dont keep them in pickle jars anymore but nonetheless IMO they need/deserve 2.5 gallons minimum to be happy and exhibit their true behaviour. Also one thing for people to note, clawed frogs are often confused with adf so make sure you check their front feet. adfs have webbin on all of their ffet including their front. Clawed frogs do not have webbing between their front feet. clawed frogs will eat your fish!Kept these dudes on and off for some 9 years or so. My first one survived life in a pickle jar and hopping out a 2-story window.
Stay nicely small, very interesting, very easy to keep, good way to add some variety to an aquarium.
However, I don't completely agree that they are completely harmless. For the most part, they're fine, but for eensy weensy teensy fish there could be problems.
Had a half-inch fishie caught in a lake, put it with a dwarf frog, two days later fishie was chomped nearly in half swimming around with its guts falling out.
But I do think this was either an isolated incident or my frog was just a really mean one.
Don't let this deter you though! Great little guys! Good luck!
