Had my tank several weeks no with 3 Albino Cory's and a Betta.

For the past week or so, the water looks like its very dusty - not Bacterial Bloom cloudy - just like lost of bits of dust floating around the top half of the tank.

Ive tried 50% water chances several times this week.
Ive tried leaving the tank for a few days with no water changes.

Still cant seem to get rid of it?

Any suggestions?

I know this might sound obvious, but do you have sand substrate in your tank? If so, could it be sand particles which have been kicked up in all of your water changes this week?

If not, when you've been doing water changes have you used a vacuum or siphon to get rid of any uneaten food and debris? If not, I'd advice you to do this to keep the water as clear and clean as possible.

Also, try not to do too many 50% water changes in one week as you will remove the bacteria culture that has accumulated in your tank.

Hope this helps :good:

No sand - I have small gravel.
Also, yes I have a gravel siphon which I use to get debris out of the tank.
Really lost on this one. Used to be completely clear - just happened over the past week or so!

There's nothing wrong with doing large or multiple water changes; the bacteria live almost exclusively in the filter and there is a negligable amount loose in the water column.

OP; keep up the water changes, and think about maybe running an extra filter, a little air driven one would do, filled with floss for a few days.

I currently have an Interpet PF1 filter. Should I set it so that it releases air bubbles via the exit tube for a while to see if it makes a difference?

I don't think that will help much, but you can always try it! What media have you got in it? Is there room to put a thin layer of filter floss in somewhere?

I have 2 sponges and one layer of very fine filter media that is supposed to keep the water clean - not doing a very good job! Maybe I should replace this with filter floss?

Nothing wrong with trying a replacement of the fine media they gave you with some floss stuffed in the same area for a while, it might work better. Agree with FM that an extra little simple box running just floss might help, should be cheaply available on the net. WD

Should I get the ones that fit my filter: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230598737728&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_670wt_907

Or another particular type?
