Duckweed

I think duckweed is adorable. Those tiny little green leaves and itty bitty roots:wub:

I have collected duckweed from a nearby pond and rinsed it for 2 minutes in a Bleach 20:1 dip and it survived just fine. After the dip ensure you heavily rinse the plants with clean water. I also put mine in a treated water for a short bit just to ensure all traces of bleach were gone but I am not entirely sure that works. (is Sodium Hypochlorite neutralized by water treatment?)

If I only had a foam filter I would think that duckweed would be ok but if you have a power filter it seems to get caught in the filter, and the output of the filter tends to push the duckweed all over the aquarium where it gets trapped by all sorts of things from plants to rocks.

I cannot keep duckweed in my outdoor ponds because the goldfish and minnows eat it too fast.

I'm going to be getting some WS for my 29G when the weather warms up a bit (shipped)....maybe some red root floaters, as well
If you want to order online I recommend Etsy. There are some reasonably priced listens on there and most of them will refund you if the plants are DOA
