Is it fine to find wood in forest and open lands and use them in the tank? or are the driftwood in LFS specially treated or something?
out here in AUS it is very expensive for driftwood so if i can find my own and do the treatment my self then it will be better than paying alot of money for a little bit of driftwood

I think it's generally OK to use wood from the forest as long as they haven't been sprayed with chemicals or exposed to exhaust fumes...But I'm not 100% sure.

Usually all right. Best to clean it well then soak for a good long time before putting in the tank. I wouldn't boil it, but it's all right to pour boiling water all over it to make sure you take care of any nasties. And be sure to remove any bark.

Make sure you set the wood in the sun for at least 3 months to help age it.

Edit: and no cedar or pine, ever(unless you age it for 1 year minimum)
