Hi, I just went and bought a piece of drift woodand have boiled the kettle
and put the wood in kettle water first. But i was wondering whether
I should put it in constant boiling water. Any advice would be great as
i have never bought any before.

I also got some bloodworms at the same time and was wondering if
my fish would eat them hopefully they do. my fish in signature

Cheers

don't know about the drift wood but the fish should love the blood worm.

Boil your driftwood 2 or 3 times - this makes sure that all possible nasties in the wood are well and truely gone. Then just soak it in a bucket or basin, or in your bath if it's too big, until it stops leaching out tannins. Tannins are the brown colouring. They won't harm your fish at all but it looks unsightly in your aquarium and you won't be able to see much. Change the water it is soaking in every day or so, so you can see when it stops leaching out brown.

To be honest, I don't know if they will eat them as I know very little about corys and loaches, however if you post in the corydoras section then you will definately get someone who knows :D

When I bring in dry driftwood, I will wash off any dirt or loose material and chuck the wood into the tank. My fish tank is not a sterile environment, it is a living body of water full of microorganisms, plants and fish. As long as I know the wood had no bug sprays or similar kinds of things on it, I don't worry about anything when I use dry wood. I will not take driftwood out of water and just use it because I don't know what is in that water source. Not all bodies of water are healthy. In that case I would dry the wood thoroughly and let it sit in the sun for a while before using it.

Thanks for the info guys much appreciated. I didnt think that
you could just take a bit wood wash it and throw it in. I thought
you had to go through some kind of procedure but i wasn't sure what
