Hey all,
I went to my LFS because I was in the area and picked up a nice piece of spiderwood. It's in a bucket outside with water+prime. How long do you think it'll take to sink?

Good look. Took mine 19 days!

I think it's the same thing - Azalea Root. I've seen it called spider wood.

Can I just float it in the tank? I'm kind of worried about some evil bug laying eggs on the wood and when I put it in they hatch and eat the eyes off all my fish lol

if it'll fit in a pan, you could boil it for a couple of minutes. Otherwise you're best leaving it to soak outside the tank and see what leaches from it, if anything. You can hold it down by tying a rock to it in the tank. Unless you want to place bets..? eh @AilyNC ? :p

I floated mine because I had no fish in the tank. I would be paranoid it'll sick and fall on a fish and kill it. With fish in the tank I'd probably use a bucket. Or put it in the tank and when it starts to sick use a bucket. Or use a bucket now and keep a towel over the bucket to keep bugs out.

Very much the reason I didn't move to America - bugs.

It's super tall, no boiling this time I'm afraid!
