Just today i bought a peice of driftwood at my LFS. Its real not plastic, but the driftwood is being supported by a piece of stone, so it sits flat, My problem is the stone the supports the wood has a screw that goes thru it to hold the wood and stone as one peice. Will the srew rust and create problems

I would say no because I have had one like that in my 29g for 6yrs, and haven't seen any ill effects.

I wouldn't worry about it.

The worse you'll get is perhaps a small algae bloom from it. The rust would act as food for the algae but not cause any other harm.

My guess (and I'd be willing to bet) is that the screws used are stainless steel. So unless you are using a lot of salt or other corrosives you won't ever have any trouble with rust. They are made to go into aquariums, and stainless steel screws are not all that expensive.
