Driftwood And A Rock

Hello Fishkeepers,

Recently ive gotten a piece of driftwood and a smooth, flat rock from the coast and i cleaned them with hot water. After that i connected them with water-proof expoxy glue. When i added it to my aquarium i noticed a lot of dust and rock particles coming of and polluting the water so i removed it. Any ideas on if it is safe to use and if its not how could i make it usable?

do you know what kind of rock it is, as not all rocks are inert and aquarium safe.

Nope i have no idea what kind. All I know is i picked it off of the oregon Coast and it is gray and flat.

Test any rocks/stones with malt vinegar to see if they fizz. If they do you can't use them

No i dont have an pics. I will though test the malt vineager if we have some. Thanks for the help!
