i live in Canada Mississauga the stores that carrie driftwood are really expensive. My question is i have a creek near by my house would i be able to go down there pick up a drift wood from there and use it ?  of corse i would boil it and clean it before i put it in my aquarium. Would i be able to do that?

Dont boil the wood? Pour boiling water over it then soak it in some water for a while. No point in cooking wood it goes all soft and horrible.

iv read that you should boil it for about 2 hrs cuz it will kill all the bacteria.  idono if a bucket of boiling water pored over the drift wood would kill all the bacteria

but if u say to do it that way i will thanks bud

A combination of drying and soaking in boiling water will kill off anything that might be harmful; definitely don't boil it.

Do be careful; you mustn't use any softwood/pine and all wood must be long dead and not rotting.
