my parents found a huge peice of drift eood in a stream its like 4ft by 4ft by 3ft so they dragged draged it home and cut it up i put the pieces and its been in our garden for 16 or so years i snatched it and put it into a huge tub thing filled woith hot water and put the lid on so they were held under water everyday i change the water an they have been soakingfor 4 days now and the water is still a tint color

how long will it take to be tank ready and what else should i do

Well, it depends on the kind of wood and how long it had been submerged in the wild- as well as a few other factors.

More often than not- it's gonna take a while to "cure" it. :(
Change the water frequently and dont let it dry out. :) It's in Gods` hands now, lol.

You can boil it- that will help the process along somewhat. ;)

its been soaking for 1 week now and i change the water everyday and the water is still "tinted" when i empty it its been underwater for a while i guess and has been a ornament for 16 or so years now.

wow thats long cant wait till i got to the river were i fish. Im going to give me some driftwood an some new gravel there it looks natural ( but wait it is natural) some plants from there some big rocks wow ... :) :) :D :D

P.S is that a good Idea

i put it in last monday and today the water is still tinted i think maybe the wood is bad and i best not use it

Wood will tint your water. Depending on what kind of wood and the size it could take weeks to months to "cure".

If the wood is visibly rotting away-then it probably is bad.

You can chop the outer edges off to get to the "hardwood" if there is any there.
If it is hard and not mushy- just give it some time.
Try scrubbing it with a scrubber pad (something that wont break up too easily- nice tough plastic.)
HTH's.
