i saw them under the Tetra brand and was wondering if they could be a substitute for live foods as i can't afford to buy live foods evyerday and especially in such small amounts as i do not have much fish
 
yeah, as long as your fish like meat then you'll be just fine, if a fish is conavore then they will eat pretty much anything.
 
Most run of the mill tropical fish don't care if they have live food. I'd go with the freeze dried, just watch to make sure they are eating it. Another alternative is frozen food. I get frozen brine shrimp. It comes in sheets that stay in your freezer you just break off a small piece defrost it in warm water and dump it in the tank. It is really cheap because you use such a small bit of it each time.
